Purpose of this site: documentation on operating self-hosted services securely. It sells nothing, carries no advertising and collects no data — see privacy.

Why hosting does not decide this

A common assumption is that a static site on a hosting platform needs no disclosure because the platform serves it. That is not the test. The obligation follows whoever determines the content, not whoever operates the servers — commissioning a technical service provider does not transfer it.

For a site operated commercially or professionally from Austria, the relevant requirements come from the E-Commerce-Gesetz and the Mediengesetz. What exactly has to appear depends on the operator’s legal form and activity, which is why the fields above cannot be filled in generically.

Content, and what licence covers it

Two different bodies of work, and they are not automatically under the same terms:

• The repository’s code — Compose files, scripts, configuration — is under the Apache License 2.0.
• This site’s text, diagrams and page structure are under CC BY 4.0: use them, adapt them, use them commercially — name the source and link the licence.

The two do not merge where they meet. A Compose file or command quoted on these pages stays under Apache 2.0, whichever page you found it on, so the same snippet does not carry different terms depending on where it was read.

This site cites its sources on every page it can. Being citable in return is the same position from the other side.

Pages here cite external sources. Those sites are not operated by this project, their content is not ours, and a citation is not an endorsement of anything else on the page. Links are marked, open in a new tab, and name their destination before you follow them — see how sources are chosen and checked.
